Link Lust: Week of 6/1-6/6

By Erica | June 6, 2010

Holllla, girl (& boy) franz! I’m finally getting back into the blogging groove after my weird last week. I’m back with fervor, for sure. This could be due to the fact that I’ve ingested two McDonald’s Iced Mochas in the last few hours (love those!)–but either way, I’m feelin’ it. I plan to pump out some awesome posts this week so please be sure to bookmark me, add my RSS, follow me on Twitter or do whatever you gotta do to make sure you don’t miss the goodies.

The Seventeen Magazine Project is exactly as the name would suggest. One avid teen mag reader decided to live off the advice provided by the Bible of teen ‘zines for one month & document her experience. Kinda makes me miss when hanging out on the couch with a copy of Seventeen was my Friday night…almost.

I don’t know why, but this little animal intrigues & terrifies me at the same time.

♥ I mentioned last week that I’ll be interning in San Francisco starting in July, so I did what any style-savvy 20-something would do in preparation for her big move: Peruse the ultimate SF street style blog. I want one of those little clear cigar purses everyone is toting. So cute–albeit a little unpractical for the amount of stuff I usually carry.

I want to learn to “sugar power” my photos. Looks like a fairy tale–or a very girly acid trip.

♥ Weird, but seems to work for some: How I Outsource My Life to 13 Different People

♥ If I had more money, I’d totally sign-up for this Handmade Writer Course, which includes being sent two creative writing prompts AND feedback on your work every week. Maybe I’ll save cause I think this would totally motivate me to get back into writing fiction (WARNING: This site was made was I was 16!)

♥ “Support Women Artists Sunday” is my absolute fave feature on one my favorite feminist blogs, f-bomb & this week they featured the insanely quirky, creative & my ultimate girl-crush Helena Bonham Carter (sorry, Tim–I’d choose your woman over you any day!)

♥ Audrey Kitching is hot & so are these DIY Chanel shades she made.

♥ Love summer. Love sandals. Love wedges. Love the environment. Love Eco-chick’s pick for Best Green Shoes for Summer 2010

♥ From The Quarterlife Quest: Fearing the End Limits Our Beginnings is required reading for any quarterlifer. I’m cooking up a similar post on embracing life & changes after college for later this week.

♥ Amanda Lee tell us which friends we should drop RIGHT NOW. She also made these awesome sparkly, sequined heads from wig holders.

Do You Make These 10 Common Mistakes When You Think?

♥ I’ve been reading the blog for 2+ years, so I feel like the last person on the planet to see that Pretty Much Amazing (sickest music blog ever, hands down) offers an MP3 of the Day podcast–FO FREE?!?

♥ I recently became obsessed with Designer Drugs (the electro/house DJs, not the substances–that’s another story for another post!) They’re coming to Columbus in a few weeks to play a show my ex-boyfriend organized, so you better believe I’ll be there & using my charm to try to two-step my way backstage.

♥ Last week I linked to Kyie Jowiser’s post about depression. She took the post down shortly after I linked to it, but here she explains why. Very inspiring, again.

♥ And last but certainly not least, more proof that affirmations really will work (via Empowered Quotes):

A belief is only a thought you continue to think. A belief is nothing more than a chronic pattern of thought, and you have the ability -if you try even a little bit- to begin a new pattern, to tell a new story, to achieve a different vibration, to change your point of attraction. — Abraham-Hicks

♥ Plus, the no. 1 habit of all creative people is SOLITUDE. Take that, extroverts!

xoxo erica lee
